Great rainfall in south-central Sweden is succeeded by bad harvests, pestilence and drought in 1421 and 1422.

Text originalOriginal text

Text translationEnglish translation of the text

In the same year (1421), such great amounts of rain fell that the corn in many places rotted away uncut; and at the same time came pestilence and drought. This plague epidemic had now lasted a whole year and had not yet ceased; in many countries it had ravaged so violently that houses were left uninhabited.
